Be Fit and Enjoy Life

How I Keep Healthy and Stay Fit

How I Keep Healthy and Stay Fit

In today's fast paced world everyone is busy running towards their respective goals. While doing all this they forget one very important aspect of life and that is to keep healthy. Because unless and until we are physically fit no matter how much money they have, they cannot achieve their goals.

However the big question is: What is the best way to stay healthy? We come across lots of ways and possibly know a lot but still we find it difficult to stay fit. First of all we need to understand what is the meaning of being healthy.

It is all about living an organised an disciplined life. The best way to lose weight I found is to have healthy eating habits along with regular exercises. Healthy eating is all about having a balanced diet. Too much of anything or too less of anything both are bad for us.

I include lots of green leafy veggies in my diet and try to drink eight to ten glasses of water every day as it helps to flush the toxins out of my body and keeps my skin healthy. I try and avoid having more of simple carbohydrates such as white bread, sugar rich and processed foods and rather supplement my diet with more of proteins and fibrous complex carbohydrates.

Instead of having three regular large meals, I have 6-7 small meals but more frequently. I avoid fatty foods as much as I can. However once in a while I will indulge in some of my favorite foods but in less quantities. I will have a very small piece of cake rather than a big fat piece.

I keep my breakfasts large, my lunches light and my dinners minimal and I have healthy snacks in between. I try and have my dinner before 8 as I realised the digestive rate is very slow during the night.

Last but not the least regular exercise is again the best way to maintain a healthy life. I joined a local gym and enjoying doing classes there, it is fun with other people and even socialising with them. However. It is not mandatory to join a gym to keep fit. You can do simple exercises at home. I still have my walks in the morning along with some stretch exercises to ensure a healthy heart and soul.

Because at the end of the day when I am fit and healthy I feel good about myself and that always keeps my spirits high and alive. It is nice to often get compliments from other people:) I am now 55 years old but get told I look about 35.

*Here I'd like to tell you about my favorite diet program that uses a lot of the healthy lower GI foods: Isabel de los Rios' 'The Diet Solution Program'.

The Diet Solution Program favours a long term health orientated approach to fat loss, but not offering anyone a quick fix to their weight troubles. It has loads of valuable data and research to support its approach. I personally investigated the program thoroughly and my mum has been using it for a while now. I have to say she got some great results.

The nutrition plan is one of the healthiest we have seen, a strong core focus on vegetables, fruits, vitamin dense foods, lean proteins, select dairy produce and a clear approach to not expecting one diet to work for all body types. So give it a try and let me know how you’re doing.*
