Side Effects of Aspartame
Effects of aspartame on your health are usually not simple sensitivities or allergies, but diseases or serious symptoms which can occur immediately, slowly or may appear as severe reactions.
As one of the most controversial food products in the market, many doctors and health professionals around the world are strongly recommending against aspartame today despite US Food and Drug Administration accepting it as safe and approving it for use in many food products. Aspartame is a white, odorless, non-caloric and artificial (man-made) sweetener, often known as Equal, Canderel or Nutrasweet and used in many food products and diet soft drinks. It is a common sugar substitute, that is approximately 180 times sweeter than sugar. It comes with potentially toxic side effects and is known to be responsible for about 75% of reported adverse reactions to food additives. Some of which are actually very very serious and include seizures and death.
Aspartame can travel in your body and deposit within various tissues after dissolving. It breaks down in the body as the human body is capable of digesting aspartame. This is exactly why this substance can easily create so many symptoms and illnesses, depending on the strength or weaknesses of your immune system and genetic make-up. It is a very effective ant poison, you don't need to use any other chemical to get rid of the ant problem in your house, stick to aspartame! So think twice before putting that substance in your mouth again. In various studies, people that suffer from side effects of aspartame and then stop using it are observed to show health improvements, which clearly indicates that the effects of aspartame are linked to the use of this artificial substance.
Aspartame and Weight Loss:
You have a life long experience with sugar, from the childhood. Your brain has a response mechanism called 'cephalic phase response' and it makes you expect the arrival of new sugar. After the intake of aspartame, your tongue is stimulated and your liver is made by your brain to prepare for this sweet arrival. So it doesn't matter whether it is the real sugar that is full of calories or a sugar substitute- often aspartame, the taste buds are stimulated and you are left to crave for sweets after consuming aspartame or sugar. The cephalic phase response triggers the insulin release which stores sugar in the blood stream. Insulin tells the body not to burn any stored fat. Aspartame intake cause increased insulin levels, which in turn causes the sugar in your blood to be converted into fat by the old fat not getting burned- metabolized. Up to 75% of overweight individuals are reported to suffer from a biological imbalance involving insulin. Proper balanced nutrition, portion and calorie control and regular exercise are the only keys to healthy long-term weight loss. Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners only make you crave for more sweets and empty calories. They do not help you lose weight, but gain weight as it increases your hunger, crave more for unhealthy foods and make you eat more.
