Less Rice and More Vegetables

by Nila

I Eat Much Less Rice Now

I Eat Much Less Rice Now

My 65 plus kg figure was touching 70 kgs and above at times and this was alarming for me. I had two constraints: First one is no regular exercise at home and the second is me feeling obliged to eat properly- which meant heaps so as not to feel hungry at work. Both reasons were causing weight gain.

So I decided to change these and see what would happen: I started walking down one kilometer from home before catching a taxi to my work place and left it at one kilometer away from home while coming back. This I have been doing for a few months now.

My second choice was about the change in my diet. I put a restriction on how much I ate. Since I am a rice eater, I reduced the serving size to just one cup of rice- four tablespoons. As this could not be done in one go, I added more vegetables to the total quantity and reduced rice.

This resulted in eating a lot of vegetables, which was great for me. And the vegetables were boiled and then seasoned with cumin seed and garlic, I also made a habit of drinking lots of vegetable juices.

In a month’s time, my rice intake got to the point I aimed for at the beginning. This was also probably helped by me having a larger breakfast than before. Now for the whole day, I only eat one serving of vegetables around noon and with my afternoon tea.

My dinner is again a big bowl of boiled vegetables with four tablespoons of rice, by 7.30 pm. The days when I work late, I have another bowl of only boiled vegetables around 10.30 pm.

This is all I do. Now I have my weight around 62 kilos at the maximum. I generally feel so much better and much less tired at work and throughout the day.
