Lysine Rich Foods

It is important to consume lysine rich foods regularly and on a daily basis. Lysine is one of the eight essential amino acids that you have to take from foods or supplements as the body can not produce it on its own.

L-2, LYS, L-Lysine, lysine HCl, lysine hydrochloride, lysine mono hydrochloride are some of the other names used for lysine.

Lysine is one of the eight essential amino acids that you have to take from foods or supplements as the body can not produce it on its own.

Lysine Benefits:

• Lysine is a necessary building block for all proteins in your body and is important for the overall growth of your body.

• It plays a significant role in calcium absorption and helping in maintaining calcium.

• Lysine helps strengthen the teeth and bones and prevent osteoporosis.

• It plays an important role in collagen formation, which happens to be an important component of connective tissues like the skin, cartilage and the tendon.

• Lysine aids in recovery from sports injuries and surgeries.

• It helps in physical development, by helping the production of carnitine. Carnitine helps in lowering cholesterol and creating energy from essential fatty acids.

• Lysine is known to be helpful in treating herpes infections and cold sores.

*Here I'd like to tell you about my favorite diet program that uses a lot of the healthy lower GI foods: Isabel de los Rios' 'The Diet Solution Program'.

The Diet Solution Program favours a long term health orientated approach to fat loss, but not offering anyone a quick fix to their weight troubles. It has loads of valuable data and research to support its approach. I personally investigated the program thoroughly and my mum has been using it for a while now. I have to say she got some great results.

The nutrition plan is one of the healthiest we have seen, a strong core focus on vegetables, fruits, vitamin dense foods, lean proteins, select dairy produce and a clear approach to not expecting one diet to work for all body types. So give it a try and let me know how you’re doing.*

Lysine Rich Foods List:

• Beef, chicken, fish- sardines, pork, turkey, shellfish

• Tofu, soybeans, soy protein powder

• Eggs

• All types of cheese- especially parmesan

• Nuts- almonds, brazil nuts, chest nuts, cashews, pistachio nuts

• Whole grains

• Seeds- fenugreek, pumpkin and sesame seeds

• Dairy products, particularly low fat plain yogurt

• Small amounts in most fruits and vegetables

• Legumes- beans, chickpeas

Beef, chicken, fish- sardines, pork, turkey, shellfish, almonds, brazil nuts, chest nuts, cashews, pistachio nuts

Is Lysine Safe?

Lysine has little or no toxicity and it is a safe amino acid that is essential to the development and growth of your body and that helps to heal and restore your body parts. However you may want to be careful with lysine overdose through supplements. Please do not go over 1.5g of lysine per day in terms of supplement dose.

Lysine Deficiency:

Deficiency may be experienced in times of physical strain and stress or by an excessive arginine intake and inadequate dietary intake. In case of lysine deficiency, muscle tissues are eaten away so you may want to have lysine supplements to prevent this from happening.

Following lysine deficiency symptoms are commonly observed: Weight loss, hair loss, poor concentration, nausea, getting ill easily due to decreased immunity, blood shot eyes, fatigue, poor appetite.
