Mayo Clinic Diet.. Or Not?

I Lost Over 65 lbs In A Year

I used to be overweight and depressed, not knowing what to do with my weight problem. It was so awful and I was getting a little bigger every year. The funny thing is there is noone in my family with the same problem, they are all slim and they look very healthy.

And I actually managed to lose some weight with this high protein high fat grapefruit diet named after Mayo Clinic, but it took me less than a month to put it all back on, and more... Then one day I was on Mayo Clinic site and realised that this diet is not what they are preaching for.

The key to weight loss was burning more calories than I consumed, eating healthy foods from different nutrient groups, only in smaller amounts. Over the span of a year I lost over 65 pounds by simply tracking my calories and switching my eating habits from junk to healthy, whole foods.

My goal was to eat things that were closer to coming straight from the earth rather than a factory. I slowly phased out heavily processed foods for a vast assortment of delicious fruits, grains, and vegetables.

Keeping a calorie limit of 1,400 kcal a day, I found that healthy foods allowed me to eat a lot more food and meet that limit than did the unhealthy, empty calories I used to eat. The pounds seemed to fly off and I have never felt healthier.
