My Low GI Weight Loss Story
by D. Pathak
I managed to lose quite a bit of weight over the last four months. Here I'd like to tell you about my own experience on healthy eating and glycemic index, diet that helped me to lose and maintain weight- diet that was responsible for my weight loss success.
Most people I know try and lose weight by exercise or using gym equipments to reduce body fat, which can be great for toning up and may help with weight loss. Gym is also a good option if you are health conscious. There are also many gym equipments you can use at home that can help you: exercise bikes and free weights. I have also subscribed to an online fitness program, which kind of helped me.
However I have lost most of my weight by eating healthy. My weight was 80 kg, while my height is 5.2 inches. I was looking really bad with extra fat. I went to gym, tried different exercises and bought home gym equipments online but didn't see a great deal of difference in my weight and my figure. Than at last I decided to reduce my weight by eating healthy low GI foods and controlled myself not to eat fatty foods.
I ate more fruits and vegetables and more liquid foods rather than solid foods. I started to eat only two chapattis instead of three or four. I avoided fatty parts of meats. I drank fresh fruit and vegetable juices, and lots of water. I also ate more of high fiber foods, rich in both soluble and insoluble fibers that are low in glycemic index.
To compensate for fatty meats- protein while dieting, I used egg whites, beans, sprouted grams and maize seeds which are low in glycemic index and great sources of protein.
Juice- fruit juice and plenty of water for high energy. I increased the quantity of liquids in my diet through ware, juice and more liquid in foods.
I used soy beans, which is also a great source of protein and very low in GI. And sugarless gums, to keep my mouth and mind distracted from eating.
This is how I now have a much better and healthier physique and I am very very happy that I reduced my weight by approximately twenty kgs within only four months without starving myself.
*I'd like to tell you about my favorite diet program that uses a lot of the healthy lower GI foods: Isabel de los Rios' 'The Diet Solution Program'.
The Diet Solution Program favours a long term health orientated approach to fat loss, but not offering anyone a quick fix to their weight troubles. It has loads of valuable data and research to support its approach. I personally investigated the program thoroughly and my mum has been using it for a while now. I have to say she got some great results.
The nutrition plan is one of the healthiest we have seen, a strong core focus on vegetables, fruits, vitamin dense foods, lean proteins, select dairy produce and a clear approach to not expecting one diet to work for all body types. So give it a try and let me know how you’re doing.*
