Spinach Casserole Recipe
by Green Celebrity Network
This spinach casserole recipe has been one of my favorite dishes since childhood. Over the years, we’ve changed it a little and increased the amount of spinach and also adapted it for a dutch oven, but it is still a family classic. It is a great way to get kids to eat and love their spinach. It makes a delicious veggie side dish to go with dinner or it makes a great dip served hot with crackers. No matter how you serve it, you are going to love it!
Ingredients for Spinach Casserole Recipe:2 packages Organic Frozen Spinach (cooked and drained)
1/2 Cup Cream Sauce***
1 package Lipton’s onion soup mix
1 Can water chestnuts (sliced)
Seasoned Bread Crumbs
*** How to Make a Basic Cream Sauce:Just in case your grandmother or mother (or a cooking pop) never passed this helpful recipe along…
1/2 Cup Milk (whole, 2 percent, or skimmed)
1 Teaspoon of Butter
1 Heaping Tablespoon of white flour(or corn starch)
Salt and Pepper to personal taste.
Melt butter in small sauce pan.
Add flour to milk and mix or shake well. A shaker or glass jar with lid works best.
Slowly add milk mixture to butter stirring continuously over medium heat. When thickened add seasoning.
Directions:Mix first 4 ingredients well and turn into a casserole that has been greased.
Sprinkle with seasoned bread crumbs.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. The casserole may be made ahead, but the bread crumbs should be added just before baking.
And don’t forget — ALWAYS USE ORGANIC SPINACH, whether fresh or frozen. Even though it has that added benefit of making your meal more eco friendly, it simply tastes the best.
*Here I'd like to tell you about my favorite diet program that uses a lot of the healthy lower GI foods: Isabel de los Rios' 'The Diet Solution Program'.
The Diet Solution Program favours a long term health orientated approach to fat loss, but not offering anyone a quick fix to their weight troubles. It has loads of valuable data and research to support its approach. I personally investigated the program thoroughly and my mum has been using it for a while now. I have to say she got some great results.
The nutrition plan is one of the healthiest we have seen, a strong core focus on vegetables, fruits, vitamin dense foods, lean proteins, select dairy produce and a clear approach to not expecting one diet to work for all body types. So give it a try and let me know how you’re doing.*
