About Me
The Editor of Glycemic-Index.org
Hi everyone and thank you for visiting Glycemic-Index.org!
I don’t normally like talking about myself that much so I’ll keep it short and sweet.
I lived in different countries of the world all my life, such as Australia, Turkey, Italy, Argentina and UK and different experiences in different countries and cultures taught me quite a bit about myself.
This is my first website and it happens to be the product of my major passion in life: Fitness and Nutrition.
I have a bachelor and two masters degrees in business, management and finance and worked in the corporate world for 12 years. Busy work schedule never stopped me from exercising at gyms and practicing kundalini yoga regularly and non-stop except for little breaks.
I also hold a diploma from Fitness Institute of Australia in Sydney and learned a lot over the years about different forms of exercises, how certain foods and way of eating may affect the body and got to observe the changes in different people around me.
It has always been great sharing what I know with people from all backgrounds and when I decided that I wanted to take this to a new level, this website- Glycemic-Index.org came about.
I was first introduced to the concept of ‘Glycemic Index’ during the nutrition modules of my personal training course and that’s when I paid more attention to the food labels in supermarkets and found myself searching for low GI breads etc. It was amazing to see what was happening to me after eating a healthy low GI high fiber meal or a high GI sugar loaded cake.
Low glycemic foods give me the energy that lasts for hours and a feeling of fullness whereas high glycemic foods a sudden spike in my blood sugar, leaving me feeling hungry and tired when the sugar levels drop in a short period of time.
I’ve always loved eating sweets and I never stopped completely. But as the saying goes: Everything should be in moderation in life! It has always been important for me to not overindulge or overdo anything, enjoy what life has to offer- and this includes food:) and know when to stop!
So I’ll stop here and let you browse through the other pages of my website.
Please feel free to give me feedback on how I can make this a better service to you and please do not hesitate to contribute whenever you want.
Hope you enjoy your visit and thank you!
Tolga
