Bad breath home remedies.. Also called halitosis, bad breath can no doubt be quite embarrassing and so many people in the world suffer from this problem.
Unfriendly bacteria in your mouth and throat come in contact with proteins and produce volatile sulfur compounds which lead to bad breath.
‘Oral hygiene and decent dental care’ is the key to the treatment of bad breath and if you don’t look after your teeth and mouth well, you will end up with more bacteria in your mouth, tooth decay and gum disease.
Best way to find out if you have bad breath is to cover your mouth with your hands, breathe into your palms and sniff it, if it doesn’t smell nice, it means you have bad breath.
Common Causes of Bad Breath:
• Bad dental hygiene
• Dehydration and dryness in your mouth
• Zinc deficiency
• Bacteria accumulating on pieces of food left in your mouth, when you don’t brush your teeth
• Smoking is a major cause of halitosis.
• Fasting and not eating at regular intervals during the day
• Food stagnation between your teeth
• Sinusitis, bronchitis and pneumonia
• Constipation
• Gastritis
• Tooth decay
• Gum disease
• Infection on tonsil or throat
• Dentures
• Heavy metal accumulation
• Intestinal worms
• Diabetes, kidney or liver failure and even cancer.
Bad Breath Home Remedies:
• Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss them daily, this will prevent the accumulation of off food and bacteria in between your teeth.
• Brush your tongue regularly to get rid of bacteria.
• Gargle with baking soda dissolved in warm water.
• Drink cups of tea during the day, it doesn’t matter if black, green or herbal teas.
• Fenugreek seeds’ tea is also found to be quite effective for halitosis.
• Eat low-fat plain yogurt every day. Friendly bacteria in yogurt helps immensely to reduce the sulfur compounds that cause the bad breath.
• Drink plenty of water during the day.
• Eat an apple a day, to clean your teeth, purify your mouth and remove bacteria.
• Gargle with lemon juice in warm water.
• Make a habit of eating parsley regularly, it has to be one of the best bad breath home remedies.
• Avocado helps remove intestinal putrefaction or decomposition. Although usually expensive, have a little every day.
• Drink fruit and vegetable juices. Juices from green vegetables are particularly helpful in getting rid of halitosis.
• Have some sunflower seeds after your meal.
• Use mouthwash with high chlorophyll content, but any mouthwash will be a temporary solution, just like sugar free gums.
• Chew on cloves, fennel, or anise seeds to chew after meals. Certainspices do help improve your breath.
• Avoid drinking milk or eating cheese, onion and garlic if you are suffering from bad breath.
• Avoid eating fish such as anchovies and tuna to prevent bad breath.
• Rinse your mouth with water after a meal if you don’t have a toothbrush on you.
• Brush your teeth with different herbs– mint is a good one.
• Gargle with half a table spoon of apple cider vinegar in warm water.
• A well balanced diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables and high fiber grains and low in processed carbs and sugar, is also and always recommended.
