It is Almost Like It Is All Psychological

Hi, my name is Liz, from Canada. In my opinion and experience, healthy eating is not always easy, especially if you have gotten used to the bad- salty, sugary or fatty foods. I swear they are like an addiction!

When you make the effort, though, to eat healthy, the longer you go without the bad foods, the better off you will be! I made an effort to buy more fresh fruits and vegetables and eat them instead of junk I wanted to go for- chips, candy bars etc.

You might really crave something, but I’ve found once you eat and get full of something healthy, the craving for junk food seems to be much reduced. It’s like it is all psychological. When you’re hungry, make yourself eat healthy without giving it thought! Don’t think about what you’re craving, just get full! But don’t eat too fast, you might end up eating more.

Also, you can’t just count on healthy eating. It must be done in combination with exercise. Pick an activity you like, or at least can stand, and work on slowly doing more of it. Both more intensely and for longer time periods. Make sure to get your heart rate up to burn the fat. I also use a buddy – if you do it with someone else, you are much more likely to stick with it and see results.

Finally, if you mess up and eat a ton of junk food, don’t beat yourself up over it. Acknowledge that doesn’t fit with the lifestyle you want to lead and make a commitment to start fresh with the next meal.
