Healthy Organic Diet On A Budget

Many people have this idea that they will lose weight only if they consume natural and organic foods. And I get asked often how they can afford to lose weight as organic foods cost so much more.

Firstly, just be certain that you don’t have to eat only natural organic foods to slim down. As long as you have the right plan and approach to losing weight, you will be successful. However if you are a health conscious person, you may also adopt to the organic natural plan as a long term strategy.

Why the Healthy Organic Diet?

Knowing the kinds of crap food producers and farmers put in standard foods, it is hard not to be a big supporter of healthy organic diet like I am and I’d be in denial if I claimed that organic is cheap and everyone can buy them easily. Nevertheless there is almost always a way around things and you also can add organic foods to your diet without spending too much.

I tend to be quite careful with money and dislike wasting when there is so much poverty and hunger in the world. Being no different with food, I can only recommend you to go and see what kind of organic produce you can buy that you can put in your freezer, whenever there is a big sale on. If you can’t afford the organic poultry and meat, just get what you can within your budget.

Think about the junk you may be filling your shopping trolleys with, each time you’re in the supermarket.. biscuits, cookies, cereal bars, chocolates and how much they do actually cost you. Get rid of them and you’ll be surprised to find out the $ you’re saving. Go and buy some natural and organic foods with the money saved.

And imagine how much you may be overconsuming every day. The more you eat, the more you will be paying for food. It is quite simple, isn’t it? So try and keep your portions in check and see how much extra money you’ll end up with.

Choose what type of foods you buy organic. Thick skinned fruits and veggies- melon, water melon, bananas, oranges, cauliflower, broccoli, lemons do not absorb the pesticides as easily as thin skinned foods- strawberries, grapes, lettuce, leek, spinach, peaches, bell peppers. So give the thin skinned foods a priority as they don’t resist the pesticide penetration very well, and buy the regular thick skinned foods if you’re going over your budget.

Have you ever considered getting your hands dirty and growing your own fruits and vegetables? Lettuce, carrots, green beans, onions, radishes, spinach, cucumber, tomatoes, capsicums, herbs and more.. They are all rather easy to grow without needing to use complicated techniques.

What about visiting your local farmers’ markets where the produce come straight from the farms and fields to the markets, with no extra packaging or shipping costs and very little or no pesticides at all.

You simply do not have to dive straight into the ‘healthy organic diet’, try and change your habits and organize your budget slowly. It took me years to get to where I am in terms of maintaning a natural organic diet plan. Start off by replacing a couple of items that you eat frequently and take it from there.
