Reversing High Blood Sugar

The key to my success was I never denied myself anything
About six years ago, I decided to have my blood sugar checked at a university health fair. I did not think it would be out of the normal range, but I was wrong! The nurse performing the test almost fainted.
It sent me straight to the doctor the same day. Of course, my doctor ran the proper tests and gave me a prescription. After taking the medication, my blood sugar dropped to very low levels. I decided that was enough.
I was significantly overweight and decided I could get my blood sugar down through dieting. My mother had diabetes for many years before knowing and it eventually took a toll on her heart. I did not want to end up like that. I also learned that the medication to lower blood sugar impacted the health of women and were better suited for men.
I decided to eat foods that were low on the glycemic index. I incorporated more protein and whole grains. I gave up all fast food. Amazingly, after about a week I no longer craved the fattening fast foods. I also started walking more.
The weight started melting off in a normal amount of time. Two years later, I had lost a total of about 70 pounds rather effortlessly.
Two years after diagnosis, I left the state to attend a graduate program. My new doctor did not believe I was ever diagnosed with diabetes. This was because my tests showed I had a lower blood sugar level than most normal people.
I think the key to my success was that I never denied myself anything. If I wanted something with a high GI, I ate it. But, I made sure that the bulk of my diet included foods with low GI. Walking also helped.
I firmly believe that changes in diet and exercise can improve some health conditions. These changes do not include fad or crash diet tactics. Healthy, sensible eating is all it takes.
